Project Overview
Swerve is an online "conversation starter" featuring Calgary events, contests, and restaurant guides.
Front End Description
Swerve Calgary provided the PSD mockups for the site and I provided them with a finished CSS/XHTML/PHP WordPress theme.
Back End Description
This theme really displays the flexibility of WordPress as a CMS. Not only did I utilize the standard posts/pages, I used custom post types and custom taxonomies for an events listing, contributors section, custom menus using the WordPress menus function, etc. This theme has a custom admin for defining featured posts, a must do list, multiple custom widgets/content. This theme also has a few custom forms that either produce and email to a specified person or create a custom post type post (event/user generated media). This theme also uses a custom post template system that uses category logic to choose what template each post uses.
Lessons Learned/Random Thoughts
Overall - this is an excellent site that shows the true possibilities of using WordPress as a CMS.
